Martin Li
Martin is a Human Resources professional with over a decade of public sector experience. He has held HR roles at the University of British Columbia and Langara College and previously worked for the City of Richmond in Aquatics, Public Works, and Building Approvals departments. Through these roles, he developed a deep understanding of municipal governance, regulatory compliance, and public service delivery. As a former Union Steward and Occupational Health and Safety Representative for CUPE Local 718, Martin gained firsthand experience in labour relations, workplace advocacy, and public sector negotiations. After his public sector career, he founded an HR consulting business specializing in labour relations, performance management, recruitment, payroll, and total rewards.
A lifelong Richmond resident, Martin attended Ferris Elementary and Richmond Secondary before earning a Bachelor of Arts from the University of British Columbia and a postgraduate Human Resources Management Certificate from Simon Fraser University.
Beyond his professional work, Martin is deeply committed to community service and advocacy. He volunteers with initiatives that support marginalized groups, including newcomers, low-income families, and individuals facing workplace challenges. Passionate about Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI), he actively works to create more inclusive spaces in both the workplace and the broader community. As part of his commitment to giving back, he has participated in Chimo’s Coldest Night of the Year and other fundraising efforts to support those in need.
Now, driven by his lifelong dedication to public service, Martin is running to be the next Member of Parliament for Richmond Centre—Marpole. His diverse experience across public, private, and union sectors has given him a unique perspective on the challenges facing the community—ranging from workplace rights to social equity and economic stability. He believes that strong leadership and proactive representation are crucial in addressing these issues. With a deep-rooted passion for helping individuals, strengthening communities, and driving positive change, Martin is ready to bring his experience and advocacy to the federal level and ensure that the voices of Richmond Centre—Marpole residents are heard in Ottawa.
